The industrial-age classroom was built for factories. Algorithms now exploit the passive and compliant habits it ingrained. Peconaq Inc. is building the open replacement.
We are not building a school chain, a franchise, or a product. We are building open infrastructure — a protocol specification and a reference implementation — that any educator, community, school, or government can adopt, adapt, and build on without commercial obligation.
The Open PMC Protocol is published at peconaq.org under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. The Peconaqri reference implementation is published at peconaqri.org under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. The communities that implement them own what they build.
We believe learning begins with a genuine question, not an assigned topic. We believe the mentor relationship — one person knowing one learner across time — is the most powerful educational intervention available, and the one the industrial classroom cannot provide at scale.
We believe AI does not replace the human mentor. It handles the content delivery and institutional pattern recognition that previously consumed the mentor's time, freeing them to do what only a human can: notice, challenge, hold accountable, and build a relationship across time.
We believe the open-source model is the right model for educational infrastructure. A design that anyone can implement is a design that can spread at the speed the crisis requires.
All products, protocols, and resources are designed to be freely shared. Peconaq Inc. stewards the ecosystem; the implementing communities own what they build.

Visit Substack →Jin Lee has been thinking for a long time about what education would look like if it were built not around industrial-age classroom protocols but around the learner's own curiosity, agency, and capacity for genuine inquiry. That reflection began in Singapore in 1996, ran through a 2001 paper on financing human creativity, a son who taught himself through games, and a 2016 insight that inverted the logic of passive learning. In early 2026, with the help of AI as a thinking partner, it crystallised into two structures: the Open PMC Protocol and the Peconaqri Cell as its reference implementation. Read the full story →
Jin entered the Queens, New York Startup Competition with the Peconaqri concept, which was selected as one of the top three finalists in the technology category in April 2022 — significant recognition for a framework still in design. That process produced the Peconaq circular logo for the first time and forced the concept into a clarity it had not previously had. He formed Peconaq Inc. that same year. Jin is also the principal of PTEK (Pusat Tuisyen Era Kecerdasan) in Malaysia — the pilot Tier 3 Peconaqri Cell centre, currently under development.
Jin writes at drleejin.substack.com on AI-age education, life systems design, and the future of learning. Contact: drleejin@peconaqri.com
